While our team of plant experts test and choose all Gardyn portfolio plants based on their health and success within a Gardyn, we cannot totally eliminate the risk of a pest infestation for any given variety. Certain plants, however, are more resilient in deterring potential pests than others.
When trying to limit pests or restarting your Gardyn after a heavy pest infestation, we recommend keeping these specific varieties in mind as our top picks to include and avoid for your best chances of a pest-free journey.
A Note About Marigolds
Many people are familiar with Marigolds in outdoor gardening as a potential pest deterrent, but this trait does not necessarily remain true inside. The main pests Marigolds help deter outside are soil-dependent pests, so this benefit is neutralized once the Marigolds are in a non-soil environment (your Gardyn). Additionally, indoor plants are not exposed to the same balance of ecosystem checks as outdoor plants, so pests that might not be a problem outside can be attracted to the plant inside.
While Marigolds are still absolutely gorgeous and many people grow them on their Gardyn without experiencing any pests, they're not the most pest-resistant variety of all the plants we offer.
