Fill the water tank with 3 gallons of tap water only, and no plant food, when you start germinating your plants. Plant food can hamper germination and prevent your seeds from sprouting. Simply pour the water in through the opening in the lid.
If you haven't already, be sure to remove the transportation plug and lower the pump when you're done.
