Environment is one of the key critical factors that affect plants. Air temperature and humidity work in concert to control water uptake, nutrient assimilation and distribution, and photosynthetic potential.
All About Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is how plants produce their energy, so the rate of photosynthesis is often a measurement used to grasp how fast plants are growing. As growers, we look to maximize photosynthesis to produce the largest yields.
Find the Right Balance
While the presence of light is the “on/off switch” for photosynthesis, the air temperature and humidity work in concert to act as the “volume knob” for photosynthesis.
- Higher temperatures with lower humidities mean your plants are drinking more, but photosynthesizing less.
- Lower temperatures with higher humidities mean your plants are drinking less, but photosynthesizing more.
It’s best to have a balance with steady uptake and photosynthesis, in levels that compliment each other.
