PLEASE NOTE: If you purchased your Gardyn after the beginning of September 2021, we recently changed the irrigation connections. Please start troubleshooting from this article: Troubleshoot Watering Issues with the Irrigation Quick Connectors
1. Make a Diagnosis: Manually Turn On the Pump & Observe
- Tap the blue/water tile in your app to manually turn on the pump
- Wait for up to 5 minutes
- Observe and identify if the pump is engaging or not.
If you do not hear the pump engaging or feel the pump vibration from the white plastic pump holder or on the lid itself, please refer to our article for Troubleshooting Pump Issues.
2. Troubleshoot your Irrigation Hoses
A. Is the water pump in the correct position?
A common cause of plants not getting watered is that the pump is not in the correct position. Here is a video for reference. You can see what we are referencing specifically at the 25-second mark. Additionally, here are pictures to reference. (Don't forget to remove the foam plug that was holding the pump in place for shipping).
If the pump irrigation hose is not fully seated properly onto the pump exhaust nozzle, the pump intake pressure and power will be weak.
B. Check the Assembly of the Columns and Irrigation Hose
- You can straighten the hose down towards the white tab and gently pull from the bottom as shown below.
- Remove the top cap of the column to verify that the irrigation hose is not pinched.
It should NOT look like the image below. This will restrict the water flow.
- Make sure the irrigation hose is not causing interference with the yPod being able to seat properly. When you pull the yPod out, it should look like this:
When you pull the yPod out, it should NOT look like this (water hose incorrectly installed).
C. Check the Connection of the Irrigation Hoses in the Columns to the Tank
Check the connections from the irrigation hoses in the columns to the connection on the base. A pinch in the hose can additionally cause watering flow problems.
Depending on when you purchased your Gardyn, there are two different connections that you may have: a black elbow connector or the new white & blue quick connectors. If you have the new quick connectors, please refer to this article: Troubleshoot Watering Issues with the Irrigation Quick Connectors
D. Check the Irrigation Hose on the Pump Exhaust
Follow these step-by-step instructions for a no-fuss approach to accessing the connections and pump under the lid. Don’t worry, there will be a link at the bottom of the page to direct you back here!
The pictures below demonstrate what the irrigation hose should and should not look like:
